Quote CobraCraig="CobraCraig"That is true but it doesn’t mean it’s the better product as it’s not and plenty of people inside Rugby Union are panning the current product.
League has zero chance to ever compete on an international stage, some top Union playing countries play zero league, Australia League is bigger, PNG too, maybe some of the pacific islands it could become bigger but that’s it, the club game in England I would say is quite similar in stature but we will never compete on the international stage imo. We maybe had an angle to even the playing field slightly with refs/video refs being way over zealous in Union (decided the World Cup) but with these new rules being brought in by the RFL I think we’re just following.'"
I dont disagree but the steps forward international rugby has taken are massive, the last two world cups have shown Samoa png Tonga as genuine challenges for th top 3 sides. also some of the smaller nations have massively improved like Lebanon Japan. if we can continue to improve internationaly and the union spectacle continues to struggle then we can close the gap on exposure. I just dont think the rofl or super league really do much after a World Cup or international test to promote the game. do we think the improved viewing figures and attendances have nothing to do with the greta world ciup we have recently hosted ?
