What I'd really like to see throughout all British clubs is homegrown talent at 1, 6, 7, 9 and 13. These are the key positions in the game as they guide the team around the park. We see far to many imports come over in these positions (particularly in the halves and at fullback), stay for a couple of years then go back home. It's not producing consistency in Super League or for England.
Wigan are in the position of having three of these positions filled. Within two years, looking at the talent we have at the club, all of these key positions can be filled by players who have worked their way up at Wigan. That's why I don't want to see the likes of Dureau at Wigan. I'm sure he'd be a fantastic player, don't get me wrong. But we've got players here who can be just as good (if not better) and with the experience will come good for both Wigan and provide high quality competition for England national places.
