| The decision making of this guy on the rugby end of things in recent years has been absolutely appalling.
Circa 2 years ago he gallivanted off to Australia, proclaiming he was on some noble quest to make his biggest ever decision.
He came back with [iRohan Smith[/i (Said with Richard Keys’ name calling cadence and intonation. Football cliches, if you know, you know).
At the time, Smith had a record of 27 wins from 68 first grade games with Bradford and Norths, respectively.
Smith took over with Leeds second bottom. Roughly 2 years on, Leeds are 3 places higher, 5th bottom.
Cracking.
He’s “building something”.
What qualifications did Smith have to get this job? That is not the CV for someone who needs to return a major club in transition to winning ways.
These are not good rugby decisions.

| Gawry is greased in. Best mates with the owner. Will hand over when he decides time is right. Has earned that right to a degree. We must remember the Rhinos franchise is a very good business. Makes plenty money!

| I appreciate Leeds fans thinks Leeds is the biggest club and every coach in the world should want to come here. Peter Green was offered the Leeds job and turned it down before Smith.
Perhaps after the treatment of David Furner no serious Australian coach would take the chance on a club with a board and a group of supporters that are always looking back at the glory days and has agitators like JJB who amongst the worst culprits.
Maybe be Smith was the best that GH could find who was willing to take a chance on Leeds?

I’m sorry Blake, there’s still no contract for you.

86.jpg Let all the doubters keep doubting and those who believe keep believing.
We’re only interested in those in the bubble. Anyone who wants to come in the bubble, you can come in.
But you’ve got to keep believing.:86.jpg |

'" Deliberately mischaracterising Smith's record at Norths doesn't help you. His record there was outstanding, taking over a team which finished 11th, progressively improving them year after year until they won back-to-back championships.

Completely agree - JJB simply couldn't accept change and his own demise. As I said when you have a club that is always clamouring after the past rather than trying to improve the future these kind of things will continue to happen. Ryan Hall is just the latest example.

That is a fair point. We must consider the neither North's nor Bradford were not an elite-level club and that a move to such will be a leap of faith to a degree. As Cas are finding.

Glad someone agrees with me anyway, what is JJB's latest job title out of interest ?

Sometimes the leap of faith is worth it though, who would of thought Matty Peet would be so successful at a top side, having never played the game at a high level or coached at high level either.
We could have gone for an experienced elite level coach and come out with the same result and a team with the same issues. Theirs no guarantees when appointing a coach, same as player signings.
Was Rohan the right choice, it doesnt look like it at the moment, and there's no guarantee his replacement will be successful either.

| To be honest, Rohan sounded like the mold of coach I was after when we got him. I wanted someone like Holbrook or Woolfe who was still making their way as a coach but would hopefully be a success for us.
Its very unlikely we would get a top end coach as they are all likely in roles in the NRL. Even so, top end doesn't always bring a success. I thought Wayne Bennett was poor for England and Tim Sheens did nothing.
Any new coach will likely be a gamble.

| Lets not reinvent Furner as some misunderstood genius, done in by the nefarious JJB. He brought the awful Lolohea with him, and continued to pick him despite him (and several other members of the team) looking hopelessly out of shape. We lost 8 of our first 9 games under him, it was an unmitigated disaster.
This actually could have been predicted given his record at the Raiders, where he only got the gig because of his dad being in charge. He had a 43% win ratio there, and was widely regarded as utterly out of his depth.
Similarly making up stuff about Rohan Smith being a failure at Norths is silly. If we're going to talk about coaches, lets be real about them.
