I hate to go over old ground but I still think Grix has a lot to do with the position we are in now and obviously I was highly critical of his work when it come to his signings and who he let go and I do think he missed opportunities to improve the squad. Finn is now left with a lot of dead wood that unfortunatley make up the majority of this current team. Injuries to key players has exposed this even more and we are left with a lot of players who might have been good for us a few years back but they are no longer playing at that level or players who are simply not good enough to play week in week out for a Championship team nevermind one that you would think had playoff aspirations.

The Widdop signing was crazy, he might not be on anywhere near as much as some on Facebook are claiming but I think we could bet that he is on enough that we could have signed at the very least a decent centre or prop with the money if not more. I do think Widdop would have looked good for us playing behind a good pack but the reality is what we are putting out at the moment is one of the weakest packs in the division that gets bullied each week so in that sense its a shame that Widdops career will end at Fax in a relegation battle rather than a lot higher up the table.

AM I RIGHT? I'M NOT WRONG!:287.jpg

We tried so hard to score but lacked the quality (not the effort). The entire backline line is League 1 standard and we desperately miss Eden and Crookes. And their front row was miles better, again we're missing Calcot/AOB/Douglas. Painful day yesterday.

Like Fax in Asia, I dont see the games in person, only the highlights but saltonstall, mcomb & tibbs have to be the weakest back 3 in the division. Salty has been a tremendous player but his game means he's chewed up the miles and just doesn't have the same impact but to think we had worthington & arundel only two seasons ago, the succession planning is woeful. Tibbs is a shell of the player he was a season or so ago. I genuinely thought he has / had all the attributes. McComb is not a centre. However, at the end of the day, there is enough quality in that team to compete and beat Sheffield. What worries me is that such performances emerge during the season or the back end when the table takes shape but to not score a point in a game and a half and concede 86 in the 4th & 5th games of the seasons is an absolute capitulation. The only saving grace is its still the first quarter of the seasons but me thinks that whatever systems Finn is trying to implement are not meshing. I mean, does any see any distinct differences? Same as last year? Worse? Likewise, I think you can expect Eden to be play 10-15 games. I think a few people fell asleep on the fact that he played an average of 16-17 games a season at Castleford in the last six, seven seasons.

I agree with most of what as already been said. A few weeks back when i said we look more like fighting relegation than getting in the playoffs well nothing i have seen since as changed my mind. I see Dewsbury and Whitehaven as the most likely as things stand to be at the bottom and us just slightly better. It will help when we get Douglass O'brien and Eden back but like as been said Eden is injury prone so how many games we get out of him will be interesting. I do not know if anyone as heard anything regarding Crooks injury situation i was told he needs a op and will miss the rest of the season if true that will be a big blow with him being our only centre.

A mistake i think the board made last year when Grix said he was leaving was asking him which of the current players should stay or go. This is not me having a go at Simon he was asked for his opinion and gave it even if i disagree with it. It was up to the board to leave it to Finn who they knew was going to be the next coach pretty quickly to make these calls. If he would of made the same decisions then this years squad is on him which he as already stated that even with our first choice front row missing that he would back our pack against any in the league, and when asked about new signings he backs the players already at the club. So for me we are in a mess can we afford to bring new players in that we desperately need and at the same time can we afford not to. One positive note i was just 400 numbers short on the golden gamble getting closer every home game happy days.
