Lost a lot of his pace from his first injury at Castleford and was made to look a lot better having Clifford in the team.
has been unlucky with his serious injuries but has a football brain and a decent pass
Lets wait and see how he goes once he gets back to match fitness.
Just like to see him run the ball more

| Quote: Irregs#16 "I would be completely underwhelmed with Grix. As stated earlier up the thread, he has improved the defence, but has that just happened with the introduction of some more established and experienced players. Attack has still been woeful. Going from Rowley and offering the rumoured 150k a year, plus £1million worth of salary cap to play with, to just promoting Grix, seems very 'old regime'.
I don't get the fascination of wanting to hire someone with SL experience, some of the more successful coaches in recent times haven't had SL experience, Woolf, Holbrook, Maguire,'"
Looking at your ooc list and even allowing for players who’ve gone already or might be released, a million sounds like a lot. You’ve a few ooc, but some are the younger and presumably cheaper / outside the 25 ones.
Woolf, Holbrook and Maguire… Saints and Wigan. That’s a different type of SL.

| cant blame grix for our poor attack,as as been said we have hardly any players with any creativity.we dont have 1 decent ball playing foreward.the likes of fash, brown, cator and lane apart from being too small add nothing to our attack, they create nothing.in the backs walker is good, but the threequarters are mainly slow with no real flair.trueman does need a 7 of cliffords quality alongside him.they were working well together last season until truemans injury.we are also sadly lacking at 9.houghtons about finished and we have not replaced brown.

| Adrian Lam said;
"Nothing has changed from a week ago, and nothing will probably change in a week or a month. It might take three months; I'm not too sure."
I know there's nothing confirmed that we have even offered him a contract, but I wouldn't be waiting around for possibly 3 months for him to maybe even turn around and say he's staying at Leigh. Would just be wasting time in planning and preparation for next season.
IF we do offer him to job, I hope we give him a couple of weeks to decide and say if he doesn't sign by June the offer is removed. We need to be on the ball with prepping for next season, not missing out on possible signings or even other possible coaches just because 1 guy wants 3 months to make his mind up.

For me he’s doing the old ‘I’ve been offered x amount by x club, either match it or I’m off’ Beaumont isn’t a patient man so can’t see that going down to well, there’s no chance any club, anywhere would wait 3 months for a decision, too many comings and goings between Leigh and Hull though does make you think..

| I just can't see it with Lam, I wouldn't be disappointed if he came here but I also wouldn't think yes! We now have the top class coach we all wanted. I also can't see him leaving midway through Leighs 5 year plan they seem to have in place.
There seems to be a lot of negative press saying this person and that person have rejected the hull job but I can't see Myler just offering the job about left, right and centre. You can pretty much guarantee a headline later this week about Lam rejecting the Hull job, its so predicable but online "journalists" know it will get clicks and that's all they care about.
I'd rather the club bide their time even if it takes until later in the year for the right man for the job.

| Listened to the latest house of league podcast. The Grix link is who Shaw thinks we should hire. Unless he knows something he's not letting on.

| Shaw, as well as being a Dobbins client journalist, is a Fax fan so pushing the Grix case isn’t a surprise.
No doubt the club are on with it and it could even be a name no one has mentioned yet.
The fact we’re increasing our support staff is just as important to me. Us improving as a club won’t just be on one appointment.

Shaw did say he thinks he'd be a good appointment for us and mentioned his time at Fax. They are doing significantly worse without him this year.

So long as it's not a 2 1/2 year contract. Better than smith but nowhere near where we need to be permanently

| Been thinking about the signing of Asiata, seen a lot of comments about his salary and injuries, but for me it is a similar deal to Wigan signing Thompson, he had a really bad injury record in the NRL (42 games in 4 seasons, including 4 last season). Came here on marquee money and has looked really good.
We have 1/2 marquee spots left (one quota and one non quota), for me the quota one has to be a 7, be good to use the non quota one too, but that might involve a transfer fee. Unless we sign Whitehead or Sutton (bit a of a risk).

| Dan Tomlinson's been told by the Club (no doubt Myler but he's not giving names) that we have only offered the job to one person Rowley the rest is just paper talk and hype from the media and coaches agents. We've no doubt spoken to people and sounded people out and personal I hope that there is still something in the rumour that Rowley could be revived (although I think its probably wishful thinking) because in the end he is the only one I can see who would be universally accepted by everyone at the club in the game and across the fan base as a great appointment. And that's what our floundering broken set up needs real single minded leadership from the top. You just can't appoint two or three marquee signings without a coach in place if you expect to attract a chief of that calibre. For they would be by definition their own man with their own vision and ideas on the leadership keystones they need. Dans piece today about this only being the start and more big signings are on the way in the next days shows I think that he has had that chat with the club and that we are moving forward cautious old me whose first priority is having a club to support till I'm not here anymore would like an announcement about who our backer is what their motives are and indeed an indication that we aren't over stretching ourselves. Perhaps a few old hands still cautiously remember Tim Wiley and his mysterious backer.

| I think Grix maybe a good coach for us. He’s popular, he’s seen good and bad as an assistant, and regardless of how, we have been better since his elevation. What more can he do at the moment? We’ve had Australian coaches we’ve had British coaches. We should quit while we’re ahead. If he can harness the incoming players with the youth, helped by Cummins then why pay even more for a sexy coach when Grix can continue his good start. The coach we need is not one that looks good from our fans perspective but who engineers, oils, and fine tunes from inside the club. Grix feels to be doing that to me without being glamorous
