| There's no need for you to be in any rush surely.
If Grix is a genuine candidate then why not see how he does over the next few weeks. If he impresses offer him a ONE YEAR deal for 2025. If he doesn't impress then move on you are not any worse off.
When Tony Smith took his bat and ball home at Rovers I suggested we go for Jason Demetriou. We went for Willie Peters and it has worked out very well. And of course things have since gone pear shaped for Demetriou at South Sydney.
I still think Jason Demetriou has a lot to offer his previous coaching record was exemplary. And perversely his failure at Souths makes him more available.
There are no guarantees of course but you are spending a bit of money now and the more you do that the more attractive you will be to potential coaches. I don't see a stack of clubs wanting to compete with you for Grix so it would be silly to tie yourselves to him unnecessarily.

| Firstly, it’s refreshing to hear from the club on a whole host of topics, hopefully this level of communication continues going forward.
It does feel like Rowley was the only real target we had initially, and that Grix is realistically next in line to be offered the role permanently. If he does get a tune out of this side, along with the potential for new and better players in 2025, then it may be a decent appointment.
On the player front, I’m certain he said we’re at contract stage with 6/7 players, I dunno if that’s both current players and new, or just new, but either way it sounds like he’s been a busy man behind the scenes.

| For all his inexperience Richie Myler speaks bloody well and every time he talks about the future of this club, I feel he gets it and it gets me excited. Gone are the days (hopefully) of mediocrity. How great would it be to have two hull teams competing at the top of super league. Fingers crossed it’s delivered.

| Demetriou would be a good call. Unlikely to get a head coach role in the nrl any time soon so could be tempted by another spell in the uk. Would be pleased if we did go for him

| My only concern with Demetriou is what Souths board said about him not really giving the younger players a chance , Which tends to go against what we are as club want to do .
Still think he'd be a good appointment though .

| Have to say Myler certainly speaks well and a lot of sense, some real joined up thinking going on. Big game for Grix on Sunday probably the biggest; play well show passion play for each other score some tries and win and he will be in pole position because although we have grabbed a few loans etc he is the only real major change. Play flat, flatter to deceive, defend poorly and lose (as lets face it we have done a lot in the recent past in such situations) it's someone else they'll look at for me.

| It's probably unrealistic but if we have the money I'd be writing Holbrook a blank cheque, that would be a statement of intent and a top tier coach with SL experience.

| It also states we only have one marquee spot left. Aren't you allowed 3, and Asiata is one of them?

Yes, this is the rule
Quote: Irregs#16 "Clubs will now be permitted up to three Marquee Players (up from two), but only if at least one of them is Federation Trained.
Whereas previously all Marquee Players were counted as £150,000 on a club’s salary cap, with the exception of Club-Trained players who counted as £75,000, now Club-Trained Marquee Players will count as £50,000; Federation-Trained Marquee Players will count as £100,000; and Non-Federation Trained Marquee Players will remain valued at £150,000 in salary cap calculations. | I'm not sure if really believe much of what pearson says. Tells us we are spending £2.3m in the cap then tells us Trueman and Carlos are 25% of that. Nearly £600k between them? No way is that true although I can believe they are paying Trueman marquee oney

| We've signed Reynolds. And Rovers have signed Richardson.
I'm confused with this despite being happy with Reynolds.
Why didn't we just get Richardson? And why has Reynolds come to us with Richardson going the the Dobbins? It just doesn't make sense

| Sorry can’t use the quote function for the post above.
It could be that now Rovers have signed Brown he’s on more than Aydin was and Richardson could be on less than they’d signed Reynolds on for cap reasons?
Personally I’d rather have Reynolds than Richardson anyway so pleased with the signing of Reynolds in the interim.
Think both Myler & Grix are both seemingly doing well in their new roles and both speak well and it’s honest.
