| Whilst we wait for the technical analysis, one element I saw in attack was that we overcame Saints compressed defence by moving the ball wide quickly and accurately (Thewlis/Ashton/Williams tries). But we also scored a barge over try up the middle with clever deception from Powell and a hard running Harrison, and a try from a brilliant "cross bar" aimed kick from Williams.
In terms of physical match ups I think Fitzgibbon did a number on Walmsley, Harrison was immense, and the young lads in the pack tackled their guts out.
In terms of officiating, the referee (who had a flawless game) did not allow Saints their usual extended slowing of the ruck and they were broadly onside for most of the match. Two of Saints tactics they were unable to deploy.

| It helps having Richard Marshall as a coach.
He knows every Achilles heel at Saints.

I dunno, the best performances Wire put in last season were both against Saints. Imo. We didn’t deserve to get beat and Saints at home in the league was the only game under Powell that made me feel alive.

| Saints game over the last 4 years or so has been based on running harder and faster than everyone else, daring teams to match their intensity.
I think (very in short) we did that at the weekend. Whilst they were missing some numbers, they've beaten us with weakened teams easily in the past.
We out enthused them, we exploited their weaknesses outside bennison and hurrell with our strengths. And rhey had a couple of players who really had stinkers. So it's a combination of things.
That being said I think the key thing is we out enthused them, you saw our players daving on loose balls, going for rhe scrappy extra 1%s. Thats a sign of extra efforts which is led by the coach.
It's a good sign let's hope it's a trend that continues
