Thanks to your continued support of RLFANS.COM, and your tolerance of those nasty adverts that we throw at you, we’ve today been able to donate a brilliant £1,000.00 to the ‘Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund’ which has been set up in memory of Keighley Cougars favourite Danny Jones by his widow Lizzie and the RFL Benevolent fund.

Your continued use of the site means that we can continue to make regular donations such as this great cause. In the last twelve months we have now supported; the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund, RL Cares, and Barrow Rugby League to assist with ground repairs.

We felt that the ‘Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund’ would be the perfect recipient of our latest donation as Singer Lizzie Jones spearheads a new campaign to raise funds for equipment that could prove the difference between life and death at Rugby League clubs across the UK.

Like you, we are RLFANS.COM want the game that we love to be as safe as possible for those who put their health and safety on the line to entertain us each week and this is a great initiative which will help to do exactly that.

This campaign was launched in Valentines Day in 2016 in memory of her husband Danny Jones, the Keighley Cougars and Welsh international half-back who collapsed and died from an undiagnosed heart condition while playing against the London Skolars in May 2015.

Lizzie has already successfully campaigned for cardiac screening to become mandatory at every Kingstone Press Championship and League One club to emulate what already happened in Super League.

Her new initiative, hand in hand with the RFL Benevolent Fund will raise money to assist hundreds of community clubs and junior teams across the country to purchase life-saving defibrillators. At a cost of £1,000 each it seems a small price to pay to potentially save a life.
